About the Artist

The work offered to you here represents a lifetime of study, experimentation, and risk-taking.

I was first exposed to the fine arts at about age 10 when I attended an after school art class at the R.I.S.D. Museum in Providence, Rhode Island. That experience started my lifelong passion for the arts. As soon as I received my driver’s license I borrowed the family car on weekends to visit the Boston MFA art museum and ever since I have spent as much time as possible seeing historic and contemporary shows. I was educated at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI. It began with a pre-college summer course with a focus on drawing, and eventually led to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Sculpture degree awarded in 1994.

In late 2015 I began using programming scripts to draw. This was such a new and different way of working for me that I needed to write down my thoughts during the development of this work, in order self-guide through uncharted territory. Eventually there was sufficient writing that it became possible to write a book which I titled “They Physible Universe.” This book tells the story of the work available on this website. The book is not a technical treatise, rather, it tells the philosophical, poetic story of the work.
